WoodNet is the North East’s network for connecting both people with an interest in woodland creation or management and professionals who work in the sector. It creates opportunities for joined up thinking, connection and education and sharing of information about woodland creation and management.

We offer a forum for landowners and managers, agents, advisors, and woodland and forestry professionals to meet up, make contact and share ideas.

In doing so, we aim to generate more opportunities for new woodlands to be created and for existing woodlands to be managed effectively in the region, encouraging and enabling woodland conservation, biodiversity and timber production.

How we do this

WoodNet creates space for this to happen through a regular programme of welcoming and valuable events which are held bi-monthly, sometimes in woodland spaces.

At the heart of these events is networking; the opportunity to meet likeminded people, make new contacts and explore future collaborations and partnerships. Attendees are encouraged to bring and distribute useful literature and to promote other related events, trainings and projects.

Events are often themed and there is sometimes a speaker from the sector, providing beneficial insight and experience in a range of topics such as biodiversity, tree health and agroforestry.

In addition, Forestry Commission staff are usually in attendance to provide expertise and updates to regulations and standards in woodland management.
