National Tree Week – Final event – Woodland Working Day Near wylam

As part of National Tree Week and celebrating it’s 50th year we are running community volunteer tree events for the whole 9 days.

We will be coppicing with hand tools (cutting hazel stools with pruning saws and loppers) and sorting and stacking the material ready to be used for making sustainable woodland products such as charcoal, stakes for hedge laying and fencing etc.

Do wear weather appropriate clothes, layers are good as we can get warm when we work even if it is cool. Waterproofs if necessary and sturdy footwear is essential. Something to sit on (plastic sheet, sit mat, etc). please bring work gloves if you have any.

Please bring plenty of water to drink, a packed lunch and a flask if you wish.

Living Woods facilitators will bring necessary tools and provide guidance and advice.

Have a great time!

At Living Woods we are very excited about National Tree Week this year as it’s the 50th one! We have decided to really celebrate by running an event on each of the nine days of National Tree Week, to make a significant difference through Living Woods. Come along and be part of this milestone week!
