Come and plant native trees

Come and join us on Saturday (Feb 1) to plant native broadleaf trees on a 450 acre farm as part of the nature recovery programme near Gilsland.

This is the last day of planting up the gullies with suitable trees on this wonderful but exposed site in west Northumberland. Come along and join us. We are really excited to be able to start the day with a brief chat from one of the UK’s foremost ‘reintroduction’ practitioners who is visiting that weekend (unless their plans change).

We will then spend the day planting native broadleaf trees using sheeps’ wool mulch mats, as part of the nature recovery plans for the land, and finish up gathered around a fire-pit in the barn with a hot drink.

Living Woods is delivering this event on behalf of Natural World Fund, a not-for-profit organisation supporting and developing holistic land-use projects. Spades, instruction, supervision and first aid cover will be provided; please wear sturdy footwear (it can be wet underfoot in places) and lots of warm clothes.

The ground is quite exposed, with rough terrain and slopes to be planted. Please bring your own lunch and drinks; the hot drink at the end will be provided. We have a portable toilet on the site.

Please watch our Facebook page for further details. It’s free to come along, of course, but please will you book here so we know to expect you. Thanks!
