REKINDLE: DERWENT VALLEY WOODLANDS

We work in various woodlands across the Derwent Valley as we continue to create a legacy of sustainable woodland management in the area which was started by The Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Lottery Project.

We carrying out a range of woodland management work, including thinning to allow more light into the woodlands, creating improved habitats for wildlife, improving the structure of the woodlands with varies layers of ground flora, vegetation and protecting self seeded saplings and coppiced trees from deer and hare browsing, ensuring the succession of trees to grow.

We also runs charcoal burns throughout the Spring and Summer months.

At Living Woods we are very excited about National Tree Week this year as it’s the 50th one! We have decided to really celebrate by running an event on each of the nine days of National Tree Week, to make a significant difference through Living Woods. Come along and be part of this milestone week!
