Grey squirrels continue to be seen as the greatest threat to broadleaf trees, ahead of pathogens and deer.
Whether you own a woodland or work in one then we must start to take more seriously the threat they pose to our existing and future tree stocks or we might find ourselves on the losing end of this battle.
Grey squirrels: they might look cute but they can cause untold damage
So we’re organising a special event for woodland owners and workers on the management of grey squirrels.
Join David Adams, project officer for the UK Squirrel Accord, to find out more about the cost to nature from this small but significant invasive species. Discuss practical measures you can take using approved methods with practical demonstrations and hands on experience. The day will comprise introductions and an indoor presentation in the morning followed by lunch and then a site visit in the afternoon to observe grey squirrel damage.
It’s on Weds April 23 at The Snods Community Centre, St Johns Church Hall, Snods Edge, Shotley Bridge DH8 9TL
Please bring suitable outdoor clothing, footwear and a packed lunch. Tea and coffee making facilities will be available. Please book your place here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/grey-squirrel-management-for-woodland-owners-and-workers-tickets-1302917504329?aff=oddtdtcreator
