We’ve come into April and it’s a great time to be in the woods as everything is bursting into life. We hope you can come out with us and share the joy. Here are the details for our upcoming woodland volunteer task days.
At Priestfield Wood on Mondays Peter will be working with volunteers to bag up charcoal, load the kiln, mark up areas for future works and doing some coppice basket work.
In Horsley woodland on Thursdays and fortnightly Sundays (April 6th and 20th) Laura and Mark will be working with volunteers to continue building the deadhedge to protect the coppice stools from deer, weave some beautiful hurdles at the entrance and sort the cut hazel, birch and sycamore into stakes, poles, weavers and cordwood for charcoal and firewood on racks.
Peter will be continuing work with volunteers at Shilbottle fortnightly on Tuesdays, thinning and practising some green woodwork from felled material.
At Garesfield fortnightly on Wednesdays, Peter and volunteers will be carrying on their work clearing around phoenix oaks as well as starting to use their mini charcoal kiln they now have on site.
