It’s time for our volunteers to celebrate. And on Monday December 16 we will hold the annual Festive Sizzle.
This is a Living Woods tradition where Peter and his regular volunteers at Derwentcote Steel Furnace host us at this wonderful local heritage site. It’s a lovely chance for all the volunteers and staff at Living Woods to get together socially and enjoy some hot food in the woods.
Built around 1730, Derwentcote is the earliest and most complete steel-making furnace in Britain. It produced high-grade steel for springs and cutting tools. It is now is part of the Land of Oak and Iron project, aiming to improve information and access to local heritage in the Derwent Valley.
We’ll meet at Derwentcote Steel Furnace at 12 noon until 2pm. English Heritage, the owners of the site, are providing sausages and other nibbles, and vegans and vegetarians will be catered for. Please bring your own hot drink and wear weather appropriate clothing. We look forward to seeing you there!
